⚠️ Important Notice

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. This action will:

  • Permanently cancel your virtual card
  • Delete all your personal information
  • Remove your transaction history
  • Stop all future donations
  • Cancel any pending donations

Before You Delete Your Account

Please consider the following:

📊 Download Your Data

Export your donation history and tax receipts before deletion. Go to Profile → Settings → Download My Data.

💰 Pending Donations

Any pending donations will be processed before account closure. This may take up to 7 business days.

💳 Active Subscriptions

Cancel any active subscriptions linked to your GiveBAC card before deletion to avoid payment failures.

📧 Tax Records

Save your annual donation summaries for tax purposes. We are required to maintain financial records for 7 years but you will lose access.

How to Delete Your Account

Open the GiveBAC App

Launch the GiveBAC mobile app on your iOS or Android device.

Navigate to Profile Settings

From the app home screen:

  1. Tap on the Profile tab (bottom right)
  2. Tap the Settings icon (gear icon in top right)

Scroll to Account Management

In Settings, scroll down to the Account section and tap:

"Delete Account"

Review the Warning

Read the deletion warning carefully. The app will show you:

  • What data will be deleted
  • Pending donations that will be processed
  • Your total impact (donations made)

Verify Your Identity

For security, you'll be asked to enter your password to confirm it's really you.

Provide Feedback (Optional)

Tell us why you're leaving. This helps us improve GiveBAC for others. You can select:

  • No longer need the service
  • Technical issues
  • Privacy concerns
  • Switching to another app
  • Other (with optional comment)

Confirm Deletion

Tap the "Delete My Account Permanently" button.

This is your last chance to cancel. Once confirmed, deletion cannot be reversed.

Account Deleted

You'll receive a confirmation email at your registered email address. Your account and card are now permanently closed.

What Happens After Deletion?

Immediate Actions (Within 24 hours):

  • Virtual card is permanently deactivated and cannot be used
  • App access is revoked - you cannot log in
  • Push notifications are disabled
  • Your email is removed from our mailing lists

Within 7 Days:

  • Pending donations are processed and sent to charities
  • Final donation receipt is emailed to you
  • Personal information is deleted from active systems

Within 90 Days:

  • All personal data is permanently deleted from backups
  • Analytics data is anonymized (no personal identifiers)

Retained (Legal Requirements):

  • Transaction records (7 years for tax/regulatory compliance)
  • Records are encrypted and inaccessible to you
  • Used only for legal, compliance, or fraud prevention purposes

Before You Go - Consider These Alternatives

🔄 Pause Donations

Keep your account but temporarily stop donations. You can resume anytime.

Profile → Settings → Pause Donations

❄️ Freeze Your Card

Temporarily disable your card without deleting your account.

Card → Freeze Card

💵 Lower Donation Limit

Reduce your monthly donation limit to a comfortable amount.

Profile → Settings → Monthly Limit

❤️ Change Charities

Switch to different charities that better align with your values.

Charities → Select New Charities

Can't find "Delete Account" option?

Make sure you're using the latest version of the app. Update from the App Store or Google Play.

Forgot your password?

Use "Forgot Password" on the login screen to reset it before deletion.

Error during deletion?

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I reactivate my account after deletion?

A: No. Account deletion is permanent. You would need to create a new account with a new card.

Q: What happens to my pending donations?

A: All pending donations will be processed and sent to charities before your account is closed. You'll receive a final receipt.

Q: Will I get a refund on donations?

A: No. All donations are final once processed. However, pending donations that haven't been sent will be refunded.

Q: How long does deletion take?

A: Card is deactivated immediately. Personal data is deleted within 90 days. Transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by law.

Q: Can I export my donation history?

A: Yes! Go to Profile → Settings → Download My Data before deleting. You'll receive a PDF with all transactions and tax receipts.

Q: Will charities still receive my past donations?

A: Yes. All completed donations have already been sent. Deleting your account doesn't affect past contributions.
